Traceability

Manufacturing companies are under increasing pressure to ensure traceability of the goods they produce.  For every item sold, manufacturers need to be able to identify specific information about that item, including the lot number, the date of manufacture, the date of inspection, the raw materials used, the dates those raw materials were manufactured by the suppliers, received from the suppliers, and issued into production, and much more.

LogicApps AIDC enables the use of bar code scanners, RFID scanners, and OCR-enabled cameras to capture traceability data and push it to your ERP system.  By automating identification and data capture, LogicApps AIDC unlocks traceability functionality in your ERP system.

Raw Materials

Certain raw materials – especially perishable items – need to be uniquely identified, and the source, production date, and receipt date of each unit needs to be captured.  LogicApps AIDC streamlines the capture of this source data and assigns unique identification numbers through bar code labels or RFID tags.  When the materials are used in production, the source data for the materials carries forward.

Production

When raw materials are issued for production, you can track more than the quantities and costs of the material inputs.  LogicApps AIDC allows you to scan bar code or RFID identifications that link to the source data for the specific raw material items used.  Thus, for each work order, you can track the source of the raw materials used during that production run.

Finished Goods

Bar codes or RFID tags can be assigned to finished goods items, allowing you to easily track the movements of those finished goods after production.  This will allow you to easily identify the lot number, production data, and inspection date for any product.  When those goods are used to fulfill customer orders, the production information will be associated with the sales order, so that you can track the source of any product delivered to any customer.

Benefits

Using bar code scanning rather than manual data entry to record transactions improves data accuracy and reduces data entry time.  Accuracy is also improved because you can record transactions on mobile devices at the moment they are being performed, whether you are on the receiving dock, in the warehouse, or on the plant floor.
